Dozens of Mallards hang out here in winter. After Portage, this provides just about the only other location for Ruddy Ducks. Sometimes a Northern Pintail visits in winter mixed in with the Mallards. The usual goldeneye, Bufflehead and scoters show up as well.
To view the mouth of Judd Creek, park in the large pull-off on the southeast corner of the intersection of Vashon Highway and Quartermaster Drive.
Walk out along the highway bridge over Judd Creek and look along the stream east to the harbor. The east side of the bridge has a protected pedestrian walkway.
